Collins-Parr Elementary fifth-grade students participated in the Balancing Food & Play nutrition education program on October 8, 2026, learning about healthy food choices, hydration, physical activity, and habits that support healthy lifestyles. The program marks an important first step in San Diego ISD’s districtwide goal to strengthen nutrition education and establish consistent learning expectations for students at each campus level. Through interactive activities, students learned how making healthy choices and staying active can positively impact their bodies, minds, and overall well-being. Looking ahead, the district will explore training PE coaches in the curriculum for the 2027–2028 school year to help provide consistent and sustainable nutrition education across San Diego ISD.
