SAN DIEGO ISD BOARD OF TRUSTEES NAMES LONE FINALIST FOR SUPERINTENDENT

The San Diego Independent School District Board of Trustees, at its August 6, 2026

meeting, named Dr. Bruce Wilson, Jr., with the Corpus Christi Independent School District,

as lone finalist for the position of superintendent. By law, the Board must now wait 21 days

before voting to hire Dr. Wilson to be the new superintendent for San Diego ISD.

Dr. Wilson has served as Assistant

Superintendent/Executive Director of School Leadership in Corpus Christi ISD since 2021.

Dr. Wilson is slated to replace out-going

Superintendent Dr. Rodrigo H. Peña who has been with San Diego ISD since 2019.
